i have been accepted to both these school and I am currently leaning towards tulane. Both offer programs in my intended major, legal studies. I had always wanted to go to miami, but i was turned off the tendency of the social life to revolve around expensive clubs while tulane's seems to be more focused on frats and bars. my fear about tulane is that they seem to be accepting EVERYONE this year and its not going to be the intellectual crowd i am hoping for. if anyone can give any feedback on how they feel about either of these school i would really appreciate it (and totally don't say anything about hurricanes, obviously you get them at either school, so its not an issue for me)

Very similar schools; go with your instincts after second visits to both

The “only expensive clubs” is like most stereotypes…Some truth, but not the whole truth. Plenty of other social opportunities are available at UMiami. Been to the French Quarter and South Beach. South Beach is much, much nicer.

Remember, you are going for school, the academic environment should be the #1 priority

what about the students at the schools…which tend to be more intellectual?

Tulane is certainly not accepting everyone this year. Go to the Tulane threads and you’ll see the frustration with the deferrals and denials. Point being, everyone is not being accepted and if they were, so what. You’ve got to go with your instincts. Usually things become clear during campus visits. Forget the clubs and frats, focus on the academics. FYI, the Tulane SAT/ACT scores are above Miami’s and the Tulane scores will probably rise this year. As has been noted on other threads, Tulane has become a strong alternative or safety for the Ivies and other top schools because, in part, of the strong test scores of its incoming students.

^Idiot

Actually I called you an idiot because you’re giving advice to someone who posted this thread 10 months ago. And my sister goes to UMICH btw. And for the record she got accepted to Miami as a backup. B/tch.
