My S got admitted into UMiami. (PRISM Honors)
Since GPA is one of the vital items for MD admission, I would like to know how difficult it is to pass through the weed-out classes. Is UMiami reputed for grade inflation or deflation in general for Pre-med core classes? I see from AMCAS that UMiami sends around 335 students to Medical Schools annually. That seems to be a good number but not sure about the total pool of students after weed out classes.
Please share your experience/insights.
Are you the student or the parent. Your other thread about Miami is posted as the student. Which is it?
Regardless…read the responses @WayOutWestMom wrote on the other threads either you or your kid started. She explains how you are are misinterpreting the data you are reading.

you have no idea how many students start out a pre-med freshman year. Colleges simply don’t capture that data.

the 335 applicants include students in the Miami’Medical Scholars Program (UMiami’s EAP program who are GUARANTEED admission to UM), straight-from undergrad applicants, alumni applicants, re-applicants, and students who may have don’t post-graduation
The number of applicants tells you NOTHING about how likely your son is to be a successful applicant to medical school.
