UMiami vs. SMU vs. CU-Boulder vs. Northeastern.

Which do you consider the best and why?

In terms of overall reputation? Boulder, hands down. Nobel prize winners, major research facility.

FWIW, my D got into Boulder, and chose Northeastern. In part because she’s from Colorado and wanted to go farther away to school and because Northeastern gave her a nice merit/FA package. But a big part of her decision was Northeastern’s co-op program which she felt would give her a leg up professionally, as well as the smaller classes, more research opporunities available to undergrads, and more private school ‘customer service.’

“Best” based on what?

Miami - Marine Sciences, Beaches, Weather
CU - Boulder - Skiing, Weather
Northeastern - Co-Op program, best “college town” in the world.
SMU - Know nothing about

Without a more detailed question, that’s probably the best you’re going to get.

You seriously think boulder is a better school than Miami?

All I’ve heard about boulder is how it has an overwhelming population of rich kids and burnouts who really don’t have high asperations.

I used to think it was awesome until the dumbest most obnoxious kid I know decided he’d go there so it was a red light.

Not to be too biased hah

People who live out west also think it’s a joke for the reasons I listed above.

haha definately NOT CU-boulder I would rate them:

UMiami
Northeastern
CU-Boulder
SMU

IN TERMS OF SELECTIVITY–from collegeboard.com

Northeastern
Percent applicants admitted: 41%

U Miami
Percent applicants admitted: 44%

SMU
Percent applicants admitted: 53%

CU-Boulder-
Percent applicants admitted: 84%

SMU Percent Accepted 2009 = 49.7%

I agree.

Living in NY, Boulder does not have a reputation- good or bad.
Don’t know how you can compare schools if you haven’t been to all.

Each school likely has it’s own feel along with strengths in certain academic areas.

SMU is a southern frat school
Boulder is full of rich kids and stoners
I don’t know anything about Miami
I’ve only heard good things about Northeastern’s co-op program, and it’s in Boston
