<p>Was accepted to the School of Communications at Miami and Newhouse and Syracuse for studying Broadcast Journalism. Now trying to figure out which would be best to attend, of course I've heard nothing but marvelous things about Newhouse but also heard Miami may be a better all around school. Which would be best for my major? Would Newhouse's incredible rank or Miami being right in the second largest media market be better for internships and a eventual job?

<p>Don’t have an answer for you … but my son is also deciding between Syracuse, Miami and University of Michigan for Sports Management! It is hard to know which school is “right.” But, in the end, it needs to be “right” for you! Good luck with your decision!</p>
<p>Both schools will allow you with great opportunities, try not to worry about which one is “better,” because they are both incredible; focus on which school is better for you. What might help is taking two weeks and imagining you are going to attend Syracuse and seeing how you feel about that after the two weeks and vice versa for University of Miami. Doing that will allow you to see if you are comfortable with the school and the reality of actually going there. The schools are in incredible different locations as well, so make sure to visit BOTH of them if you have not already! Hope this helps 
I’m actually in the same boat with University of Miami and Syracuse as top choices and I have no idea what I am going to do yet!</p>
<p>Both good options. My son is in the same boat and is leaning towards Miami. Warmer weather, palm trees, and beautiful surroundings compared to Syracuse, NY. It is a more well rounded school as well, requiring you to have a double major, and overall a higher ranking school. He also really liked UT, Austin and U of Illinois. Syracuse is known for Newhouse though, and the alumni are everywhere. It comes down to where you want to spend four years of your life. The opportunities are great at so many schools.</p>
<p>I think we have effectively eliminated Miami as my D did not feel there was enough emphasis on politics, which is what she is interested in reporting on. We are now deciding between Syracuse/Newhouse, GW/School of Media and Public Affairs (she was accepted directly into the Pol Communication major), and UT Austin (admitted directly into College of Comm). We are visiting Texas for the first time Apr 1-4. We will also do admitted students days at the other 2.</p>
