UMich Acceptance rate and requirements CS in LSA vs Engineering?

I heard that CS in LSA is easier than Engineering
but how much difference?
Also, can I transfer LSA to Engineering in the first year of college?

Admit rate is higher for LSA than CoE. The difference btn CS and CEng is two courses. Don’t know about the ease of transferring into COE. Better discussion may be had here:

UMich’s admit rate is steadily diving, even for well qualified in-state residents. OOS applicants need to be truly outstanding.

Transferring from LSA to the CoE is just a formality…if you have the necessary prerequisites (I believe there are 3 or 4 courses you need to complete at Michigan) and GPA (3.0 ought to do it).

It is not difficult to transfer from LSA to CoE. The overall admission last year was 26% (mainly for LSA) while the CoE admission rate was 23.6%. The UMich admission rate went down from 33% in 2014 to 26% in 2015, while the CoE admission rate went down from 27.7% to 23.6%. Nevertheless, if you receive any LSA merit scholarships, you better not to transfer.

I have a family friend who works and reads apps at UM. Getting into Michigan is an achievement and not an easy task, period. However, applying to different schools may give you a slightly better chance for admittance. CoE is the toughest to get into, but if your stats are up to par and your a woman… Your chances are better than if you were comparing that to a man. Same goes for Nursing; men have a slight advantage of getting into that school simply because a lot of men don’t apply for Nursing. I’m very skeptical that I would have gotten in CoE when applying, I’ve seen a lot of overly qualified kids get deferred or rejected. I think LSA is a good place to start for CS. And if you do want to transfer to CoE, the transfer is MUCH easier than you think, as long as your grades are decent and you have a good reason to transfer. Even though its easier to transfer however, you’re still going to have to do a year at LSA (if you applied there) before transferring. But, a year at LSA won’t hurt you or be a waste of time. You’ll be taking classes very similar and still complete your prereqs. It’s not like they’ll make you do another year of college or anything, as long as you transfer soon.
Hope this helps!
