Has anyone who was deferred heard yet? Do they notify deferred candidates a few at a time, or all at once? ANd if all at once, when?????????

yeah, can someone please give a solid answer to this?

nope.

i don't think we're gonna hear until April 1st.

april 1st or mid-april??? i don't think anyone really knows. but maybe someone who has called admissions?

its gonna be between april 1st and april 15th.

if you call admissions, they'll tell you that you'll hear by april 15th.

So if I get rejected on the 15th, I have 2 weeks to book plane tickets and get time off school to visit other colleges (meaning expensive airfare).

Rolling admissions is great! I can just feel the advantage i've gotten for applying early!

A guy from my school was deferred and he heard he was accepted about two weeks ago.

so basically the latest we'll hear is by thr 15th but it could be anytime between now and then?

i know two people that were deferred and quite a few rejections.

I got deferred in Jan and got in about 1 month later

A2Wolves, U-M and other schools like it assume that candidates will continue the information-gathering process at other schools while their application decision is pending, including attending their campus days, getting questions answered, applying for aid, and so on. Michigan (nor any other school unless you applied ED) does not expect (or want) you to wait until you get a definitive answer to think seriously about other options. I would advise any student who is waiting on a decision to NOT wait until the last letter rolls in to make college visits.

Some students explore other options and one of these "alternate" schools becomes the new first choice. In other words, by the time some students get the admit from Michigan, they've fallen in love with someplace else. Bummer for Michigan, but it's one of the costs of not making admit decisions faster. The University knows that.
