Hey guys. On the UMICH credentials screen, it says that I am declared as a LSA freshmen (Literature, Science, Art) but under that it says that I am undeclared. On the common app, I clearly noted that my area of interest was cell biology. Anybody else having this or should I contact umich?

At Umich, everyone is undeclared until the end of their sophomore year, so whatever is on your common app is irrelevant until you go through the official declaration process. No need to worry. I was confused about this last year when I applied, too.

Exactly. The area of interest is solely for survey purpose.

Awesome thanks for clearing that up!

Small correction: goblueUM is correct in saying that every student begins at U-M undeclared, but it is not always through their sophomore year. I declared in my first week on campus and it was official right away, and I know several friends who declared at some point during freshman year as well.
