Umich chances and App help

Hi everyone. I made a thread about U of m a while ago but now that the common app has opened and I know a little more, I would like to try a real chances thread. I also have a few questions about the Common App if anyone could help.

Top choice school: University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
I am instate and plan to apply early
GPA: 3.9 UW/4.1 W
ACT: 32 (31 English, 35 Math, 35 Reading, 27 Science, 8 Writing)
APs: Microeconomics-5
Macroeconomics-5
Biology-taking senior year
Calc AB-taking senior year
ECs:
Part time job freshman through junior year running a cash register, helping manage inventory, teaching lessons, supervising many kids ages 8 and up, providing customer service, selling merchandise, answering the phone, entering info into the computer, ect.

I let my neighbors dogs out everyday for three years while she was at work if this helps at all.
I have also done track and cross country but only 1 and 12 grade because of my job and other interests.
I have volunteered a couple places and helped organize a stuffed animal drive through the local library but have only recorded about 50 hours with my school.

I know my GPA and ACT compare well with the median numbers from U of M but I feel my ECs are not stellar. I am not sure how much EC weigh in admissions so this worries me. Also, on the common app it asks for awards and honors. I have always been on the honor roll but I have never been nationally recognized for my contributions to whatever. I know a lot of applicants have these seemingly amazing awards. Is it ok that I don't? These two things are what have me worrying about getting in.

Also, I am a little worried about teacher recommendations. I'm always a good student but I've never had that special connection with a teacher or known any teacher for longer than the class. I definitely have a favorite teacher I'm thinking of asking but I'm worried that he may decline or write something generic because I don't think I stood out in that class. I've always been a listener in class and have just recently started getting more involved in class discussion. I guess what I am asking is: Does anyone have advice for a situation like this?

And one more question about the common app. In the ECs section if I put outdoor track, the next line is Position/leadership. If I wasn't captain, what would i put here? Its a required field. Would I just put the races I ran?

Thanks for reading and sorry for so many questions. I really want to go to U of M and I'm just stressing a bit. I plan to ask my GC for help on my app once school starts. Also, I'm open for suggestion on other schools. I'm interested in business or economics and like what U of M has to offer. Ann Arbor is very attractive and I'm not sure of similar schools because, frankly, I haven't looked too much into it. Thanks again and tell me if you need any more info.

What is your home state?
I won’t worry too much about EC for UMich. As you said, your GPA and ACT are both slightly above the average for admission, so you should be a match. However, pre-admission to Ross would be very competitive. You probably should try EA to LSA.

I live in Michigan. And I would apply to LSA but I would also check the box for preferred to Ross. If I’m accepted to LSA but not Ross (that can happen right?) I would try again at the end of freshman year.

^ Definitely.

You’re in! Congratzz

I hope you’re right! Any other opinions?
