I was wondering about it… I assumed from your near-perfect test scores that different schools have GPA’s work different ways, so I assumed your’s was quite good. How does it rank compared with others at your school (keeping in mind as well that it is a magnet school).

From what I understand as well, international students not applying for financial aid don’t have much trouble getting into colleges.

With grades, you’re in luck b/c Michigan (I’ve heard) drops the freshman grades. Your grades do seem to be on the lower side, but your upward grade trend and rigorous courseload should help make up for it, along with your competitive school environment (a magnet school). Your test scores are also mighty impressive and you’re very involved.

Your chances, I agree with Alexandre, are very good. You’re a safety match/match. Just try to apply as soon as you can … I would actually apply in September or early October if you can make it, especially since they post the app in August.

I also noticed that you posted a chance thread on the Chicago board. I’ll also help out. Your stats seem to be in line with what Chicago’s looks for, though your grades are slightly on the low side (again). But Chicago tends to be more forgiving in this respect … because what they’re out looking for (it seems) is people who love to learn and think creatively, thinking outside of the box regularly … people who have intellectual curiosity. You can demonstrate this through the words in your essays … what you do with academics outside of school (as you have, doing research) and the words in your teacher recs.
