UMICH chances? desparate

I'm applying quite late (i.e yesterday) to the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and I was wondering if my chances are significantly hurt by this:

stats:
Asian Male, California

SAT: 1550/2350

GPA : 3.74 uw, 3.94 w

SAT II Scores:
Literature: 780
Math IC: 750
Math IIC: 750

AP:
Statistics: 4
English Language: 4

EC:
School Newspaper : Newspaper Editor, Associate Editor, Board of Directors (9-12)

Red Cross (9-12)
Club Treasurer (10,11,12)
Art Classes (9-12)
Speech Team (10-12)
National Merit Semifinalist

Also, does declaring a pre-professional focus affect admissions chances? Does declaring a major affect admissions chances?

No, declaring a major will not affect your chances.

I'd say that your probably still going to get into UMich even though you applied late.

damn, yea applying this late will significantly reduce ur chances.

ur an ok candidate at this point, although michigan may only want the cram of the crop. good luck.

lol yeah... his 2350 sat score is no big deal or anything.....

i think you have a good chance, but im no admissions officer. id say the worst that would happen is getting deferred, and if you just keep up senior year grades i bet you'd get accepted.

true, u have a good sat score, but ur gpa is ok, not excellent. man u shouldve applied even a month ago. u couldve easily gotten in. at this point, however, it is hard to say

I like your chances. Applying late will not affect your chances that much. Your GPA, course selection and SATs are all good. Unfortunately, applying late will hurt your chances of getting a scholarship. With your statistics, you could have received a generous scholarship had you applied in September or October. Oh well, let us know how it goes, but like I said, there is a good chance you will get in.

Hm I think you have a fair chance of getting in. I say this only because a friend of mine who applied around the same time as you did last year, got deferred and and had to transfer in for the Winter 2007 term (this semester basically). She was instate, Asian, and had around a 3.9 UMich weighted GPA. Her ACT score was a 31 with highest possible on writing.
