Umich EA 2025 Chance Me

Hey guys! I applied EA to Umich- Ann Arbor. Let me know if you think I’ll get in?

GPA: 3.8 UW 4.2 W
Act: 32 (29 math 31 science 34 English 34 reading ) pervious 2 act tests I got a 35 in science and so I reported that too so they could see that if they wanted—- 33 superscore but they don’t do that
Class rank: N/A
AP tests: AP Bio (5) AP World (4) AP Stats (4) AP environmental science and AP Lang taking this year
Honors: Algebra 1, algebra 2, geo/trig, Pre AP calc, living environment, chemistry, physics, world history, us history

Ec:

  • varsity golf (3 years)
-part time job at a local children’s museum
  • 72 volunteer hours
    -member of a few clubs

Applying Environmental science- my personal essay was on why I want to study it. Started the essay of connecting it to my childhood & the way I was raised in nature. Moved to me starting to research climate change- then on my anger towards it- what I do now to combat it- what I want my life to look like.

2 letters of recommendation: 1 from my guidance counselor who is an alumni and 1 from my AP Bio teacher junior year

Supplementals connected my summers spent in Michigan to my desire for studying at their school and the want to research climate change in order to protect the great lakes I grew up on (referenced a teacher’s research project and gave my opinions on how to further it)

I think that’s it… let me know!

Your academics and extracurriculars are definitely on the bubble. They’re all a bit low for the accepted range, but not too bad. If your essays are great then that will boost your chances. Are you in-state or out-of-state?

Out of state :frowning:

Oos is always tough for anyone. But I disagree about your academics. You are compared to your high school. What is the history of your school to getting into Michigan? Love the essay and if your application comes across as genuine as what you described I think that gives you a boost. Even though they technically don’t superscore they do look at all your high scores. That 35 does mean something to them, regardless… Good Luck

Based on naviance 60 people applied last year and 18 got in…

That is excellent. Like my son’s OOS school. Now. What were their stats or avg stats? That will give you the strongest clue where you are… Naviance will give you a clue about your schools acceptance

My ACT is right at the average- my GPA is low though. However, there were 4 people accepted with similar stats as me. One with a bit of a lower gpa (not much) one with the exact same stats as me, one with their gpa being .4 above mine, and another with a gpa a point more than mine…

So that is positive …Have solid backups. If you can afford it… I highly recommend it.

Chance me please!
In-state

EC: 4 Years tennis (3y varsity, 1y JV), chem club 4 years, college board opportunity scholarship ambassador, Research volunteer at local hospital, volunteer at another hospital, Virtual research internship at MSU, Science fair finalist in 10th and 5th place + finalist and other awards in 11th. United way volunteer. Have around 100 or more hours of volunteer.
Pretty good Essays and hopefully good recommendation letters.

Instate… Your right there… Look at your schools history with Michigan and the stats of those accepted.

Thanks! “Right there” as in the average student that is accepted or like should I be confident I will get accepted? I’m so nervous. I do not know if this means anything but I have been granted the HAIL scholarship covering my tuition. When I contacted them about this, they said that I still have to be accepted to take advantage of it. Does this mean anything regarding my admission? A good omen?

Frankly, No. It doesn’t. It’s not a guarantee of acceptance… Why they do it I don’t know.
