UMich Early Action Acceptance Rate

Does anyone know the early action acceptance rate for UMich for class of 2016 or 2015?

Does no one seriously not know??

I’ve heard it’s in the 40% range

I don’t think everyone knows

It doesn’t matter. The rumor is they could not get to most applications. They deferred all the people whose applications they didn’t get to. So the acceptance rate is meaningless.

I still don’t buy in to that b/c why would they release decisions a week earlier than they were suppose to?

I’m just asking because I want to know since I have heard it’s like 25% (I got in EA).

From what I know, the rumor is wrong and baseless.

Then how do you explain the following:

None of the early applicants have been rejected.

There are currently - people on CC who have have been admitted into Northwestern, Chicago, Vanderbilt, UCLA, in-state students with great stats and demonstrated interest - who have been deferred and have not heard back anything since Dec 20th.

@amghspa -

UM never rejects students out of EA.

It’s difficult to compile conclusions with assumptions made in that manner. On CC, we never really know the student. We don’t know how her recommendations looked or how her essays were. There is always a reason as to why a student doesn’t get accepted and we cannot formulate it unless we are the student.

Saying they didn’t get to all the students in baseless, the same thing was said last year because there were many deferrals and people assumed because it was the first year with the Common App, they underestimated their application load; if that was true, I doubt it would happen twice.

UofM always defers many students out of EA.

Is it better to apply Regular Decision? Will you get a straight up answer like admitted or rejected?

How do you know that?

Perhaps you can explain this:
Michigan released EA decisions on Dec 15. Why would they announced it a week early if they couldn’t get to most EA applications as you claimed. Why didn’t they take the extra week to get to more of the EA applications?

From our personal experience they were disorganized and overwhelmed.
Every single phone call to them was met with confused responses.
They were unable to download some of the Common App. materials.
Materials that were sent out from our H.S. and perfectly received by all other colleges, printed out blank at UM

who knows why. I think they just threw in the towel at some point, because RD applications were also pouring in.

D applied EA and was accepted. Everything ran like “butter” and how it was advertised.

^^^…now if it only weren’t so expensive! ;-)

Hey Fluffy, I applied RD, mind if I ask what ur stats are, just to gauge my chances?
