i have been accepted into both school. umich economics program and regular mccombs business sch at utexas austin for undergraduate programs. in terms of job prospect and other things, which choice do u think is better for u guys?

UMich unless you plan to stay in Texas.

I'll be going to UT McCombs and really both schools are close to equal in terms of job prospects and recruiters. It really depends on what city you prefer moreso on the program itself.

location is not a problem for me. but i just cant decide which is better between the two. are there any more suggestions?

Michigan, by a slight edge.

you should choose based on fit though.

however, i heard that mccombs business school are very good in its business area. its no 5 in e business undergraduate ranking. thats why im still confused between the two universities.

How much financial aid you getting from each school? Maybe you can base it on that?

If your getting your fare share from both do you like hot weather or cold weather? I think that's what it might have to come down to. :)

i am an international student. that's why i am not really interested on the financial aid and so on. i do not mind the weather too since i think i will be able to get use to it. i just hope to go into the best school, with a very good job prospect and good future too. thats why im confused between the two school.

I say that Ross > McCombs even though McCombs is also highly regarded by many companies. I'm not sure about Michigan economics vs. McCombs, however. Do you think you can get into Ross after freshman year? If you think you can and work hard for it, then I say Michigan. Even Michigan economics shouldn't be a bad choice. You have good choices. If you want a business curriculum over a theoretical econ curriculum, you should pick McCombs in case you don't get into Ross.

im actually a transfer student. in terms of job prospect, which is better? umich economics or mccombs business? i heard mccombs are not very highly regarded by companies. it might be one of the best business school, however in terms of overall prestige, umich is a lot better. thats why im very confused between the two universities.

Go to Texas unless you think there is a really good chance you will get into Ross, I will face this same problem a year from now....

McCombs is highly regarded in terms of job prospects especially in Texas (Dallas, Houston). In terms of other areas, I would say it may not be as competitive as UMich but nevertheless it is still up there.

UTexas (McCombs)

Banking (Investment) - 13%
Consulting Services - 17%

UMich (Ross)

Investment Banking - 32.8%
Consulting - 15.8%

Like I said before got to UT-Mccombs unless you think you can get into Ross. If you are confident you can get into Ross than definitely Umich. Also, Transvaal that is an awesome link.

but i have no interest in going to ross at all. so its either umich economics or mccombs business. which is better between the two in terms of job prospect?

Michigan, by a slight edge.

Michigan wins though. That's what matters

can you guys tell me why michigan wins? i thought mccombs is a very good business school in terms of its undergraduate business programme. its undergraduate business program is ranked 5 in the usnews.

there;s something called "general prestige", the average kids you meet in Michigan will be more likely to be successful than the average kids in UTexas.....................your friends will be more successful in the future in general, so will your acquitances--------and that's networking. Michigan has more successful alums, more network there. Boutique banks like Lazard recruit at Michigan, but maybe not in Texas.....

any more suggestions people?
