UMich Fall 2021 Transfer

Anyone waiting on nursing decisions?

I am, have not heard of anyone getting theirs back yet

I heard they might come out this Friday? What are ur stats? I haven’t seen anyone else applying for nursing.

Do you mean all decisions are coming out this Friday or just nursing? I’m applying to LSA.

I’m not sure about LSA, sorry. I spoke with someone who transferred in last year and they said they found out the 17th (which was Friday last year) so I’m assuming the 16th.

Does anybody know if the OOS transfer rate is lower than the In-State transfer rate? I’m assuming that since UMich is a state school they have a preference for Michigan residents but I can’t find anything that corroborates that.

Just got admitted to the Sophomore nursing program and received my acceptance at 6:17pm today.

Me as well!! Are you planning on attending?

Is anyone else still waiting on a decision?

Yes. Still waiting on a decision.

Hi everyone!

I’m super late on this forum but I was accepted on April 1st (like an above post I read, I thought it was an April fools joke)

but here are my stats for reference:

Stats:
Intended Major: Data Science
International Student
Out of state Community College Student (Washington)
3.98 Overall GPA at time of application
TOEFL: 116
SAT (I don’t remember if I submitted this or not): 1460
Female

EC’s:

  • PTK Vice President of Fellowship
  • Dance Club
  • Chief Justice/ Chair of PR Committee of College Student Government
  • Technology fee committee
  • Started a library for underprivileged children in Indonesia
  • World Scholars Cup (regional and international awards received here)

Work Experience:

  • Debate tutor in high school
  • Event Organizer/ Campus Life Student Employee at college
  • Interpersonal Violence/ Sexual Violence prevention Peer Educator at college

Strengths: I did really heavy research into the school. Put a lot of effort into the essays regarding why i wanted to transfer to michigan specifically (talked about why I wanted to study data science and tied it into my passion for education and their education for empowerment minor)

Weaknesses: I don’t have any internships or research experience, my common app essay was pretty terrible and last minute, i also withdrew from 1 class

Applying: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCSD, UW, Michigan(accepted), UIUC(accepted)

I also had my deposit date extended from may 1st to may 21st as they needed time to process my tentative credit evaluation.

Good luck to everyone else waiting on decisions!

Mine was extended to May 21st. I emailed them asking about whether my class credits got transferred and how many to gauge how long I would have to be studying and they suddenly took that as me asking for an extension. That might help

Anyone still waiting, keep hope alive! Accepted to LSA! FINALLY! Freshman with 34 credits from UMich Dearborn. 3.94 GPA.

congratulations!!

Does Umich require Midterm report?

Regarding submitting a mid term report, I think it depends on the individual student. If that’s something they want, they will email you and be very clear about what they want you to submit.

Congrats! Did you have any AP credits you used at Dearborn? If so are those able to transfer to AA? What scores did you have on the AP exams? My son will be attending Dearborn in the fall and is starting with 17 AP credits (4’s and 5’s), but if he went to AA he would’ve only had 3 credits. I read somewhere that with AP credits even though say at Dearborn the credits cover certain classes they don’t exactly transfer to credit for that class, they stay as AP credits so then if you transfer to AA you would then lose those credits and have to take those classes. If that’s the case I don’t think it’s worth losing 14 credits, a whole semester, to transfer. Also, doesn’t make sense because, for example, he got a 4 on Calc AB and so that covers Calc 1 at Dearborn, he is taking Calc 2 this fall (he took BC but didn’t take the exam because he wanted to take calc 2 in person), so then assuming he passes Calc 2 and does at some point in the future transfer to AA he would then have to go backwards and take calc 1 since he wouldn’t have credit for it??? Just curious if you know how that works at all?

Hello. I see your dilemma but I am unable to offer any insight as I did not have any AP credits. 29 of my 34 credits from Dearborn transferred to Ann Arbor. This puts me a bit behind so I will take some summer courses if needed. You should contact Ann Arbor. They have a dedicated team for transfer students who will be able to answer your specific questions. Dearborn is a great school but Ann Arbor is world class. My sister graduated from Ann Arbor so I know first hand the benefit of a degree from there. To me, this is worth the loss in credits, more rigorous coursework, higher cost, etc. This is something you will need to consider. Either way, congratulations and Go Blue!
