Rejected CoE`

Ah, really? You heard back today? What major did you apply for? I’m sorry. I hope it said to try again.

Also, I hate that there is no real set weekday where you might receive a decision.

It did not say try again, but I am join to try again for the spring term, Mechanical Engineering is my major, here are some stats
HS GPA: 4.1 (valedictorian)
College GPA: 3.5 (One semester)
Credits: 14 complete, 14 in progress (62 total with transfer credits awarded)
Prereqs: All completed/ In-progress
HS Extracurriculars: Many that I don’t feel like listing
College Extracurriculars: ASME, Intramural Swim, Nerd club (Forgot the real acronym)
Job: 1 during high school Junior and Senior year
Rejected as a HS senior
Achievement’s: Don’t feel like listing
2 Strong LOR’s, 1 other LOR
OOS application(technically, in-state tuition)
Yeah just kinda bummed. Feeling like GPA killed me

Nah

I’d guess they were just hesitant to accept because of GPA (rest of ur app seems stellar)- but if you can bring that up I think they’d have a hard time turning you down next semester! Mind me asking when you submitted + completed checklist? I’m also a CoE applicant and the wait is making me go nuts.

Don’t give up! I think they take in more students with more credits. So sorry.

For CoE, they don’t have a preference for credits. Mostly GPA-oriented, as well as essays. That is what I heard from admissions. I assume you applied to LSA, so I suppose this information doesn’t matter, haha.

Dang… northwestern is definitely viewed as more prestigious than umich but I understand you probably have your reasons for personally wanting umich more. Either way, you are an amazing candidate! Good luck with applying next term, but I’m sure you’ll continue to do amazing things at northwestern!

Um, app was submitted January 31st, and checklist completed was Feb 4th iirc

Yikes, this is exactly when I submitted and my checklist was complete…

Same with me lol… but there seems to be a huge gap between every CoE response (I can’t recall one before Mercury) - but I’d say it’s definite we’ll know before Friday of next week. Just have to try to forget about it until then

Congrats!
I’m also from UW Madison and just got accepted two hours ago as a sophomore transfer. I guess they are doing it by schools lol

I think maybe you’re overqualified. They can reject you for overqualification too.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, It really seems like UMich strongly favors Junior-level transfers.

Admitted to CoE (Chem Eng) at around 6:30 PM today! Submitted app on 1/31 and completed checklist around 2/6.

Congratulations, friend! That makes me so happy for you and sort of hopeful for myself. What are some of your stats, if you don’t mind sharing? I know we’re sort of in the same boat with having some prerequisites to do over the summer but that’s all I know.

Heyy could you create another link for the discord channel, I think it expired again ): Thank u sm!!
