UMich GPA also capped like UC's?

Hello,

I'm interested in applying for UMich next year. Does Mich also have a GPA capping system like the UC's do? I checked the Mich website already but didn't find any information on this.

Also, does UMich include Freshmen year when calculating the GPA?

Thanks!

Yes freshmen year counts, and I have no idea what you mean by capping GPAs, so probably not.

Freshman year grades do not count, due to the easy nature of the required core classes that many freshmen take.

UMich calculates students' GPAs for sophomore and junior years, and maybe first semester of senior year depending on whether or not students are deferred/waitlisted.

Oh, my bad, I thought you were talking about once you got here...

Thanks!

The UC capping system is basically (AP's only get weighted for 8 semesters, so after 8 semesters of 5.0 all AP's would only count as 4.0)

Any idea if Umich has a similar system?

wait, UCs also include specific honors, right?

Specific honors? o.O

Umm, what's this crap about APs counting as a 5.0?

UM doesn't weigh classes...looks at schedule difficulty and then takes GPA without weighing honors, IB, or AP classes.

also drop your "-"s and "+"s to recalculate your UW GPA (core courses only).

Ah, got it! Thanks!
