Umich in state?

So I sort of blew the whole applying early thing and know I have no chance to get in now, but if I had applied in september for early desicion would I have had a shot?

Very good public school, in state
3.58 gpa, about 3.45 with their recalculations
24act
3 yrs track, cross country, nhs, 1 extra club... nothing extrodinary
AP english, physics, history.. this year

So do you guys think i would have had a chance or was I right in skipping the UM app and just going for MSU??

Thanks

edit Since im going to state freshman year, if i pulled off a good gpa, 3.8 maybe, first semester, Is there any chance of transfering halfway through the year or would I have to wait 'till sophmore year?

bump, anyone?

U Mich is a reach for you, but you should still apply (because you never know, you could get accepted). And I think you are a match for MSU!

Michigan would have been almost impossible, even had you applied in September. But at this stage, I would say you have no chance. You lose nothing by applying, but in general, an unweighed GPA under 3.5 with an ACT/SAT under 26/1200 pretty much disqualifies an applicant.

As for MSU, you have a good chance.

Is Michigan rolling admissions? Do they take a certain (large) percentage of in-state residents? If the answer to these questions is "yes," why not apply now? My daughter applied in September to our state university and the one in a neighboring state. She still hasn't heard from the local U but was just accepted to the nieghboring U. Both are rolling admissions and many in-state residents don't apply until December! If all you have to lose is the admissions fee, it's worth going for! By the way, MSU also is a great school but if U Michigan is what you want, you should try! Good luck!
