I'm considering upitt and umich for neuroscience and pre-med. I've been accepted to both.
I know that in UMich, neuroscience is offered as a concentration of biology, and I would take that path if I went there.
Both universities seem good. Both places have exceptional research in the neuro field, medical centers are there, etc.
Money's not an issue. Which college would be better for neuroscience?

I think Pitt is especially known for its Neuroscience concentration moreso than Michigan. What sort of college experience are you looking for?

[Neuroscience Concentration : University of Michigan PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT](http://www.lsa.umich.edu/psych/undergrad/program/concentrations/neuroscience/)

I believe that it’s in both the psych dept and bio dept.

I’m just looking for a college in a city that has great professors and easily accessible research centers. I suppose an lively social atmosphere would be desirable as well.

The latest NRC rankings have Pitt and Michigan precisely equal in neuroscience. I suspect neuroscience at Pitt gets more press because it’s one of the outstanding programs there, whereas Michigan is strong across the board. It may also be because Pitt has a separate undergraduate program as opposed to tracks within other majors at Michigan. Regardless, either would be more than adequate for an undergraduate’s purposes.

wgmcp101 has written ad nauseam about neuroscience at Pitt. His/her posts are worth a look for detailed information about that program.

In terms of overall experience and reputation, I personally would pick Michigan.
