umich or uiuc or ut austin??

i got accepted into uiuc, ann arbor and ut austin as a transfer....my major is electrical engineering....im really really confused....i plan to pursue an MBA sometime later....not too keen on MS/PhD as of now....which would be a better choice?

umich .

is there a really big diff btwn uiuc n umich in terms of brand value?? i've heard the ee dept in uiuc is better than tht in uiuc

One thing I'd look really hard at is recruiting from the program you want to go into. If you're going to get an MBA, to enhance your chances to get into a decent program, you will need to score good work experience. I wouldn't be surprised if UT has the best recruiting possibilities of the three you mentioned since it is close to a technology center (and this is not a comment about the relative quality of the programs, just about the realities of recruiting). I think you've got three great choices, though, and can't really go wrong.

thanks for the info....but if i were to choose btwn uiuc and umich?? so many threads on this but i am still so confused:)

go with ut-austin. you will love austin. have you visited? that school gets shafted on here a lot because it's not ranked as highly in u.s. news but that's only because the school has a very weird top 10% rule that sort of drags the entire school down. UT-Austin rocks at any type of engineering, it has amazing division one sports, it is in a wonderful college city, and it will provide an amazing education.

no i haven't visited any of these places...I'm an international student actually...and i mentioned UT Austin for the benefit of one of my friends, I did not apply there myself (I'm beginning to regret that)...so its between Michigan and UIUC for me....fee is almost the same, weather is going to be bad wherever considering I come from a place where 70 degrees is "cold"....i hear Ann Arbor is a better student town....UIUC is better known for its ee dept....have family(more like ppl I've never met but my parents think its ok for me to barge into their homes) near both places....so still confused

If I were going to just guess, I'd say as an international student you'd like Michigan more....But visiting is the way to go.

Go with Michigan. They have an awesome engineering and a waaay better MBA program that UIUC, IMHO.

Smart cookie makes a good point. You could round out your schedule with some classes at the Ross School. And that is one of the top undergrad business schools along with Wharton, MIT, Haas/Berkeley, etc.

I think the bigger issue is that although UI is such a fantastic EE school, it just seems to me you'd have the richer experience at Michigan.

Well if UT-Austin is out of the picture, I would go with Michigan.

UIUC. UM's engineering campus is isolated from the main campus and the center of town. I'd say recruiting for EE at UI is as good as anywhere. No difference in applying for an MBA later.

i think il go ahead with uiuc....i have jus two years there anyway....doesn't look like there's too much of a difference....and i might just decide to do an MS in which case i don't think where i go now makes that much of a difference

^ Good choice...but you really can't go wrong with any.
