I applied to Umich on the 11th of november....i still havent gotten a reply 1.5 months later..............when should i be expecting it?

I could be wrong but I thought UMich was NOT doing rolling admissions this year. They have early action this year (those decisions I think have just been released) and then I think the rest will be in March/April. I could be wrong…so check.

Thumper is right - they changed from rolling to Early Action when they joined the common app. The early action deadline was 11/1 - those students should have heard in the past few days. If you missed November 1 - you could hear any time from January - early April. Do check your status on-line and be sure they have everything - if you have not already done so. Then - you just have to wait. It’s unfortunate that you did not get everything in by 11/1.

From the Michigan website:

Complete your application by November 1st.
Receive a decision by December 23rd.

The University of Michigan Office of Undergraduate Admissions is pleased to announce that we are changing from Early Response to Early Action with our move to The Common Application for prospective freshman applying for Fall 2011. If your completed1 application is postmarked by November 1st, your decision2 will be released no later than December 23rd. Students whose applications are complete after the Early Action deadline will receive decisions on a regular admissions basis. Our final equal consideration deadline for application submission will continue to be February 1st (applications must be postmarked by this date).

but on the common app one of the choices was rolling admission, and i chose that one

Some schools have Rolling admissions…that is a choice on the common ap. Michigan is NOT any longer one of them.

Mich still does rolling admission despite adopting early action. However, if you applied after EA deadline, you are more likely to receive a decision in Jan or after. Also, in the rolling admission process, when it reviews a file, it can decide to admit, reject, or just hold for later decision after seeing more files so you could receive a decision anytime between now through March.
