Letter of Rec:
I would say my letter is pretty strong, I’ve chosen a teacher I talk to a lot and have had for 3 years.

Essays:
From what people are saying, my essays are pretty strong. Idk fs how strong they are though.

Am I competitive for admission to ross? Im just anxious because I dont have that many business ECs. I have tried my best to tailor some of my experiences to be business related (such as the dental shadowing, I talked about learning dental practices).

I would say competitive. Not assured -but not a high reach. Good luck to you.

You are competitive, I assume you applied EA?

Make sure you understand the new LSA CS rules Undergraduate Admissions & Financial Aid | Computer Science and Engineering at Michigan

The Ross essays and artifact are important. It sounds like you have quite a bit of business experience with the tutoring and dropshipping businesses, plus the AI internship. It’s odd that you seemingly highlighted the dental shadowing as business experience in light of those other experiences (not saying highlighting the shadowing experience wouldn’t work though).

Good luck!

Yeah I applied EA.
What does competitive mean? Does it mean that Ross is a reach for me?

I meant you have the stats to be admitted (and you are the one who asked if you are ‘competitive’), but I can’t chance you or categorize Ross for you as an in-state student because I don’t have access to the complete picture of your app, or your context within your HS. I defer to what your counselor says.

At this point what anyone thinks doesn’t matter, you just have to wait and see when you get your admission results.

Exactly - people are saying - numerically, you seem a fine fit.

But Michigan (as a whole) lets in 20% - so there will be many numerically that don’t get in.

We can tell you - you’re in, you’re in - and if that makes you feel better that’s great.

But the email you get may not say that - so we don’t want to be definitive.

And as @mwfan said and you now know - what we tell you in the end doesn’t matter anyway. It’s just an opinion.

Stats good. I actually like the dental practices highlighted since it’s just different. Nice way to separate yourself out. Your application will speak for itself.

But getting into Michigan is almost a reach for everyone due to the amount of applications they have now. How does your school do yearly with acceptances? Out of those how many actually accept and go there? These factors do come into play.

The one school at Michigan that seems to be the most “transparent” with their #'s.

For 2022-2023, Ross received 8,680 apps and admitted 860, which is a 10% acceptance rate.

Not Mission Impossible, but Mission Difficult. Your stats are fine for Ross, but a big chunk of your app is based off the essays and portfolio.

One more item. Published in 2020, the average SAT score for incoming Ross enrollees was 1,500.

So basically, getting into Ross is akin to getting into, oh, Dartmouth or Brown.

For the first time this year UMich requires freshman applicants to apply to the CS major. The admissions website says they’re just getting too many applicants and need to control the number of CS majors.

yeah :frowning:

I hope I can get away with having a poor SAT math score.
