What type of graduate schools do UMich students typically choose? The liberal arts college generally seem to enroll a high number of students into top graduate schools(HYP and below, mostly below). What about UMich?

Absolutely impossible to answer, because grad school programs vary so much. U-M grads head off to grad school in droves, but they don't flow to one set of institutions.

Harvard, Yale, and Princeton are prestigious, but they would not be best choice for certain fields.

Well, I'm under the impression that graduate school degrees matter more than undergraduate ones. I just want to know how often UMich sends its students to top graduate programs(top 25-30). Is graduate placement good? great? spectacular?

I'm told to go to UMich for graduate school often because "it's hard to get into a good grad school after UMich gets to your grades." However, if UMich grads typically place in good schools that couldn't be true.

school after UMich gets to your grades

what does that mean?...

My gut tells me that the most Michigan alums are found at the University of Michigan graduate schools. Michigan has very strong students and they are able to get into great graduate schools. It also doesn't hurt that Mich has the largest alumni network (and a fairly close knit one with very successful members) which can help students get internships and jobs.
