Umich supplement question

My college counselor said I should not apply preferred admission to Ross because “only a select few get in.” Would it look weird to the admissions officers that I have my mind set on business/finance and talk about it in the majority of my "Why Michigan?" essay, yet I did not apply preferred admission? Is this a question that I should send to the admission officer?

Please help! Thanks

What school would you apply to?

College of Literature, Science, and the Arts

It’s a risky bet. I don’t know your profile, so only you can make that decision.

How is your score/GPA? You may still apply Ross pre-admit. If not accepted, you will be considered for LSA. If your stat is not so great, then you may just follow your teacher’s suggestion. Either way is fine.

Score: 30 ACT
GPA (very challenging course load/ top private school) : 3.85
Average accepted from my school (W): 3.88

I think your teacher is right. Are you from in state? Your ACT score is at the 25th percentile while your GPA is right at the admission average for UMich overall.

No I am from California. I think I’ll stick with not doing preferred admission.

You may still talk about business/finance in your essay as the official admission to Ross is in sophomore year.

Awesome thanks !!
