hey guys.. i got accepted to michigan early november and i am extremely excited!

however, i can't make a decision until i hear from unc chapel hill.. i'm not sure how the two rank in competitiveness against each other... but since i got accepted to michigan out of state, do you think my chances of being accepted to unc out of state might be good?

anyone here applied to both? any insight would be great. thankss!

i got accepted to michigan this week out of state also and i'm waiting for unc to reply in january (ea)

UNC is MUCH MUCH MUCH harder to get into out of state than Michigan. While Michigan is better (in my opinion overall), unless you are a recruited athlete or have some other hook, you probably will not get in-i.e. it's tougher than alot of ivies out of state including the big three.

IBGem, let me tell you about my experience. I applied to 11 universities in 1991. Here were the results:

ACCEPTANCES:
Brown University
Columbia University (Legacy)
Cornell University
Duke University
Georgetown University (Legacy)
Northwestern University
University of California-Berkeley
University of Chicago
University of Pennsylvania
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

REJECTION:
University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

Good news is, UNC was not one of the top 5 choices, so it really didn't matter, but UNC is really very competitive. Michigan is generally considered the better university, although UNC is pretty reputable.

Whoa see I told you...nice work though on all those acceptances Alexandre. Michigan was my second choice (columbia being my first but they rejected me...those a$$holes), but I'm glad I'm here because of things like athletics, UROP, greek life, etc.
