Was recently accepted to both engineering schools at each. I’d just like to hear the input regarding which one I should attend, taking into factor almost anything.
Budget?
@ARandomGeek Well I got a hefty amount of aid from Michigan, and I’ll assume I’ll be getting something somewhat similar from Cornell, so costs shouldn’t make or break which one I’ll be attending.
They have a fair number of similarities, IMO, despite one being a state school and the other an Ivy.
I’d wait to hear what the aid packages are before saying.
What engineering major are you considering?
Ann Arbor is more accessible to Chgo and Detroit than Ithaca is to NYC or other urban areas. The Big Ten school spirit is very different that Ivy League. Both have large and highly renowned engineering schools. Can you visit both?
Wait for the FA package from Cornell and then compare the details. That may help your decision. Then look into specific major you are interested in.
@DarkEclipse If I go to Michigan I’d look to pursue an aero/mech. dual degree, but if I go to Cornell I will try to major in only either mech., electrical, or engineering physics.
@T26E4 Yes I will be visiting both, but my fear is that I will end up falling equally in love with both as they are both beautiful campuses in highly ranked college towns.
That’s part of maturation HN. And I guarantee you you’ll likely have buyer’s remorse several times between now and December. But it’s normal. You really can’t make a bad decision here. You’ll be 100% fine – even if sometimes you might 2nd guess yourself. Life has too much to offer. Shrug those thoughts away. Decide and own it and be the best Cornell/UMich fanboy you can be!
Congrats!
@T26E4 I’ll try, thanks for the awesome advice!
