I'm only a junior in high school right now but I'm starting to look at colleges and engineering seems like it would be a great fit for me, as I love math and the sciences and am quite good at them. Right now it's looking like I could get into Umich and Gtech, and have a good shot at Berkeley (especially if they don't take freshman year into account, which I heard they don't...it really holds me down [3.7 weighted gpa freshman year compared to my 4.43 weighted gpa junior year]).

How do these three schools compare to eachother? I know Berkeley is the best of the three, but how much better? And how do Umich and Gtech compare to eachother?

Are you in state for any of them?

umich and gatech very similar, if you want to decide between those two, use location and your intended major as factors.

No I am not instate, I live in Connecticut.

Your best shot is at umich and gatech because they take in more OOS student then ucb does. These are the best public engineering schools out there, so can’t really go wrong with either.

It’s really going to come down to metrics besides academics. Do you like schools in big cities? If so, Michigan is out. Do you like cold weather? (you’re from CT) If so, Berkeley and GT are out. Do you like a school that’s chock full of girls? If so, GT is out. I could go on like this. Your best bet is to read some of the reviews people have written after visiting these universities. This website contains many.

Berkeley > Michigan > Berkeley
