UMich vs MSU?

Go to UofM. Wayne State’s med school also likes UofM undergrads as many attend there. Just make sure you can get that 3.6+ gpa and 31+ MCAT. For engineering, by far go to Michigan. The opportunities are more vast. If the cost is really a concern, you can realize that if you’re a bright kid, you’re going to do well no matter where you go, but if given the option, there are many more opportunities present at UofM.

“Rankings aren’t that important for engineering majors.”

Really? You really think so? You can kiss anything outside of engineering goodbye if you go to an inferior engineering program. You do realize something like 50% of MIT grads (arguably the best engineering school) go into top finance and consulting? And it’s about 25% at Michigan? Pretty sure the percentage would be closer to 5% at MSU.

The opportunities available are different.

My son had the same choice to make and chose UMich for engineering. Free would have been nice, but we had the money. If we had to have taken out loans for it, then MSU would have been the choice. He never regretted the decision and is now at UMich for grad school also.
