UMich Ross vs NYU Stern Undergrad Business? looking to major in accounting or finance..

I was selected PA to Ross and as a Stern Scholar and chose Ross. I can see pros and cons for each side. But, in the end, I chose the real college experience. Also, Ross is ranked 5 in BWeek where Stern dropped to 9 and 3 in US news where Stern is 5.

Overall, ThatKid, you are correct. However, the OP expressed interest in finance. NYU Stern is second in this field for undergraduates, second only to Wharton. Stern is a major feeder into the NY banking scene, so academically, I would recommend that. However, both will present great opportunities. A lot of it depends on whether you want the traditional college experience, with sports, frats, a central campus, etc. or the exact opposite: buildings spread throughout a huge and crowded city instead of a real campus, no frats or sports, and generally less of a community feel but undoubtedly the most urban colleges experience available.

hmmmmmm i'm most interested in Accounting though. I might co-major in Accounting & Finance but if that doesn't allow me to become a CPA, I'd drop my Finance and simply major in accounting...

hmm, you should look up rankings for accounting in the case. I personally don't know them, sorry.

It doesn't matter where you go for accounting. You can even go to a school like Rutgers and still get a job in a Big 4 firm.

If you're thinking about Finance and want to work in NYC...go to NYU...although you could still go to UMich and get a job in NYC.

Did you get in Ross as a pre-admit? If not, then go to NYU.

Focus more on campus life. Michigan/Ann Arbor are very different from NYU/NYC. I would pick between those two based on fit rather than academics. Academically, Ross and Stern are roughly equal.

Ross (PA) > Stern. Obviously.
