hey guys I just got admitted to UMich economics department. I also got admitted to University of CA-San Diego's economics department. Which is better? i know Umich is a better school but it seems like UCSD's econ department is better. Plus, I am an out of state applicant. But I really like Umich.

any thoughts? suggestions?

Me too! I’m accepted into both schools… I chose UMich over UCSD. And I heard from Alexandre that Umich econ department beats/tied with most of the ivies.

really? cus I was looking it up and it says that UCSD’s econ department is ranked 12 in the nation while Umich…while lets just say it’s behind UCSD. Did I look in the wrong place?

^ try reading this thread: OFFICIAL University of Michigan Ross Business School Decisions - Class of 2013 (I don’t know how to link the page. sorry!)

I’m looking forward to getting into Ross. (I want to major in business fields). But If I go to UCSD, I can’t do that, so I decided to attend UMich.

According to the US News, UCSD’s Econ department is actually ranked #10 truucharms. Michigan’s is ranked #11, tied with Columbia, UCLA and Wisconsin. Penn’s Econ department is ranked #9, Brown and Cornell’s Econ departments are ranked out of the top 15.

Econ rankings are important, but so is the overall reputation of the university. UCSD is an excellent university, but Michigan is slightly better.
