I applied to the regular LSA school at Umich, and I applied to the Marshall Business school at USC. I already was accepted to Umich, and am waiting to hear from USC in April. Anyone have any suggestions on the colleges.

well Ross starts jr year, and ross is ranked higher than marshall, you may enjoy having 2 yrs of lib arts instead of throwing yourself into a business program right away. I personally would go to michigan and then apply to ross soph yr.

both business programs are excellent.

USC and Michigan are very different schools, one in Ann Arbor, one in Cali. I suggest you to visit both schools and stay overnights on weekends, and see which one you fit in better. choosing school based on internet forum is dumb, go to the schools and explore. speak for yourself.

JBL is incorrect. Ross does not start your junior year. Any student at Michigan can decide to enroll in Ross for 2-4 years. It can start as early as freshman year for some. He's right, though, in saying that there is the option to get a year or two of LSA education under your belt before business school. Unless you're gung-ho on going into business, I'd recommend giving other fields a try first, then, if you still want to go into business, you can at Michigan, which has the far better business program. Of course, visits are important too.

JLB was wrong, but it's not true that U-M students can elect to enroll at Ross for anywhere from 2 to 4 years. Ross has been a two-year school, and is now becoming a 3-yr school. Some Freshman will get a special, reserved place for their Sophomore year (and won't have to compete with their classmates for a place), but they will not be taking classes in Ross their Freshman year.

I don't know if either business program is known as being "far better" than the other in general- perhaps in particular fields.

deff make sure that u visit both campus' it completly different at each of em. Cali vs Mich

from your brief post, it sounds like you're most concerned with the best business program. i hate USC, but i'd go with Marshall. the alumni power they have in the corporate field is insane. Michigan may be ranked higher, and aside from the connections at USC, you'd be living in the LA which means that a lot of great job/internship opportunities would be available to you that might not be available at U Mich.

go bruins

You may have more freedom to choose between business and LAS at USC. Some students are doing double major, or business minor. Changing major from Business to LAS is also supposed to be easier than the reverse.

Besides, no freshman will be thrown into business right away. You will have a lot of general education courses.

... and vice versa. Michigan has Detroit and the auto industry; Chicago and manufacturing in the midwest; the east coast and banking.

You can't lose with either one. It really comes down to personal preference: Southern Calif vs. the midwest, big city vs. college town, etc.

Detroit is so depressing.
Chicago is awesome.
LA is awesome(er).
NYC has wallstreet.

I guess.
