so basically i got into umich lsa (thats the liberal arts program) and i got into plan ii at ut. right now i'm leaning towards plan ii, but i'm not sure. if i went to umich i'd double major with one in either in economics or philosophy and the other in creative writing. plan ii is the easy choice right now in terms of money, since i'm in state for ut and all. please let me know which institution you think is better, regardless of money (so that i can make a better decision later if umich offers me scholarships).

I'm going to apply to UMich Honors, although i doubt i'll get in, and i'm still waiting on a decision from USC, so if i get into to either, that would make things more muddled (which is a problem i would be grateful for

i think you should go where you think would be better for you in the long run, also for some out of state schools you can get like waivers or something so they charge you in state fees, you should look into some

If you are asking about how people might view this in the future:
Grad schools and med schools will like that you went to UMich or Plan II. Both are great. If you are going to work outside of Texas after you graduate, most employers will be more impressed with a degree from Michigan - you’ll have to educate them on what Plan II is. If you are going to work in Texas, people will be far more impressed with your Plan II major/degree from Texas.

If you are thinking about your educational experience, I have to say, if you are interested in the topics that are part of Plan II, it would be hard to beat Plan II for a good liberal arts education. You could certainly double major in philosophy and Plan II or economics and Plan II at UT.

Texas is also cheaper because of your in state tuition? I think it would be very hard justify spending the money on Michigan. The out-of-state tuition is brutal there.

Also, if you are thinking about fall Saturday afternoons during your college years, well, you do know that Michigan sucks, right? (I am from Ohio and that is common knowledge here - I have seen it written on t shirts - hmmm, will cc ***** that out?)

I would like to refute the idea that employers won’t know what Plan II is. Yes, UMich has more prestige overall than UT, but employers (the one at corporations, law firms) and graduate schools WILL know what Plan II is and how rigorous of a program is. No, the clerk at the retail store or even most of your family will not know what it is, but name-factor shouldn’t really weigh in since both have their advantages.
