I am looking at applying for the WISE RP but I am a little hesitant. Do the wise RP participants tend to like to go to parties and football games are they more quiet and laid-back, or is it a mix of both? Also, what are the rooms and bathrooms in mojo like? Overall, is WISE RP considered to be worth it?
I am also wondering if I don’t get accepted to wise, do I have to fill out a different housing contract, or what happens to my housing contract if I submit it as early as possible, before I find out about wise, and then aren’t admitted? Does my housing application get the normal treatment?
This might be too late to be useful, but I thought I could give you a sense of WISE RP anyway just in case. Since the community is ~100 women, you do really get a mix of a lot of different personalities, it just depends on who you meet. On the whole, I would say the group tends to be quieter and more laid-back, but I also know of groups who went out frequently. I happened to live around people who were definitely more quiet and I didn’t click with so much, so I didn’t end up finding my niche in WISE and I instead went to parties/football games with friends I made through clubs/ECs. I don’t have the fondest memories of WISE to be honest, but a significant part of that is due to the fact that I suffered from depression throughout my freshman year. On the plus side though, I really enjoyed the WISE RP ALA class we had to take each semester, I learned a lot of useful info that still sticks with me (I’m a senior now).
The rooms and bathrooms in Mojo are really nice, modern, and clean. The only dorms that beat Mojo are maybe South/East quads, but Mojo is certainly nice. Every room has its own thermostat. It’s also a huge plus that the Hill dining hall is in Mojo, in the wintertime you don’t have to walk anywhere to get food. For some people, the prospect of not being randomly placed in Bursley is a major motivator in applying, and I can’t say I blame them, the location is great. I’m not sure about the details of the housing contracts, but that would be a good Q to email housing.
