Umich
30 ACT. Took test 5 times
4.0 GPA all four years
academic rigor is a strike against me however. Only hard classes, AP Lang, Honors IR, Precalc, Advanced algebra, Advanced composition, the harder of the chemistry classes at my high school. A lot of academic electives however
First generation college student
grown up with single mother with low income all of my life (30,000)
In state
Extra curricular:
4 year varsity lacrosse player. 2 year varsity captain. All state and conference
Club lacrosse all four years during summer
Link Crew
Go team youth group leadership group at my church, 10-12 grade
CATS athletic leadership group 11th and 12th grade
Youth group community service over four years.
Solid essays. One about me asking a kid who sat alone at lunch to sit by me and eventually becoming friends with him.
4 recommendation letters, one being from an engineer on the graduate admissions board at UMich.
Would appreciate a fast and easy opinion. Thanks!

I’ll assume that you’re talking about UMich in Ann Arbor.

I’d say you have a good (70%) chance because of your hooks (1st gen and low income).

I think you will get in.

LSA should be a match to high match and CoE would be high match to low reach.

Thanks guys! even with the lack of AP classes?

Yes, your course rigor is weak. Is it due to your HS not offering much AP? But first gen college student would help and you are from in state.

Family background will help quite a bit. Does anyone know if Umich covers all expenses for financially unstable families?

@Swimpro UMich meets the need of all in state students.

just found out I got in. Thanks for the help
Wow, congratulations, that’s a great school. Did you apply EA or RD?
EA deferred and then accepted in late Feb
High Match for LSA
Low Reach for Preferred Admission
