@MichiganDad22 umich class of 2020 is 50% out of state which is extremely high for a public university and much higher than all the other public ivies. Four times more out of state students apply than in state so umich does not need to give merit aid for out of state students as it already has a lot and many out of state students r willing to pay full cost
For those who received their financial aid report and are in-state, how much is tuition showing up as?
$14402 @CrabCakes735
@CrabCakes735 where does one see that??
@nikhil99 Go to wolverine portal and click the “view financial aid doc status”, click 2018, and it should be under award summary. It’s not there for me bc I’m OOS, but I’m assuming it should be there for in-state applicants.
When do OOS students receive financial award notices? I submitted my FAFSA a few days ago
@compsci99 I submitted my fafsa and css in oct/nov and didnt receive my financial award notice until last friday so you will prob have to wait a while.
Help please. Some info then a couple of questions.
My D (OOS) has been awarded the Jean Fairfax scholarship. However, the financial dept has not finalized her financial aid package because we are still waiting on the IRS to send us our 2015 tax transcript. In fact, the only thing we see on Wolverine Access is the scholarship award. No other aid info is present.
When we run the Net Price Calculator the results are broken into three parts; Estimated Cost of Attendance, Estimated Grant/Gift Aid, Estimated Self Help.
Is the Jean Fairfax Scholarship part of the Grant/Gift Aid money D receives? Or, does it reduce directly the amount of Self Help (student loans and WS) and the amount my wife and I pay?
I talked with a financial aid representative and she said the scholarship is not part of the grant $ and reduces our out of pocket contribution. However, I am not confident she knew what she was talking about.
Opinion? TIA
D’s page was Wolverine access was updated with President Scholarship, grant, and subsidized loan. The grant was to the dollar what the net price calculator came up with.
Thanks. That’s good to know. Congrats to your D.
@wofcatusville I saw your post and that is what make me log in. There was not any notification. Congrats to your D as well.
Do the deferred applicants still have the “View Decision” link in their wolverine access accounts??
Yup @lolonimous … I do at least
Yes . My portal shows view decissions. When i clik tht it shows that deferal ltr.
Has anyone been invited to the “Salute to Excellence recognition dinner”/ what exactly does this dinner entail ???
I heard people that were invited get merit scholarships but no confirmed detials
Ok super dumb question but I just got a letter in the mail about Michigan dear born (branch campus). Did anyone else get these??? I am probably over reacting but there is a part of me that is freaking out
I got one from Dearborn too they send them to everyone don’t worry about it
If you got invited, but aren’t able to attend the dinner, does that have any impact at all? I really would love to attend, but I will be in a diffferent state. If you do receive a merit scholarship(if you are invited) will not attending take the scholarship away?
@kourtorder how do you get invited?
