Got into COE OOS after deferral from EA!
Top 5% of class, GPA 4.16 (weighted), ACT 35, and SAT 1550.
Also applied to Ross, when do you guys think I will hear back?

My S was deferred during EA and accepted into COE today. Valedictorian of his 600+ students class, GPA: 4.0 (8.0 W), 16 APs, DE, great ECs. Not sure if he will attend, It’s not the same, the momentum of excitement to be accepted to his #1 school was gone with that deferral, plus he has several really awesome universities (ranked higher than M in undergrad engineering) to choose from. We’ll see what happens. Best of luck to everyone who was deferred. We knew it was just a matter of time.
@educationfan I wonder how many great students UofM might be losing from illogical deferrals like your son’s…
@ptolemycleopatra I think quite a bit. Several posts suggested that due to the high volume of EA applications, admissions counselors simply don’t have time to review all applications, that result in high deferral rate during the EA. Not sure if it’s true, but if it is, I’d hope something will be done to fix this issue. M is not the only good engineering school out there, and that’s a good thing:)

Got deferred first, but received the acceptance letter from LSA today!! Super excited now…

Does anyone know how often Ross sends out waves of pre-admit decisions?
Does anyone know if there’s a new “view decision” tab for Ross accepances? Or do they send email?
Did everyone who got results after being deferred submit their mid-year report? My guidance counselor has still yet to submit my mid-year report and I’m nervous that it’ll affect my admissions
@nervousgal No - alot of people who have been accepted didn’t send in the midyear report yet.
I received my acceptance LSA, and I applied for preferred admit for Ross too, not hear anything yet,does it mean I am not accepted by Ross?
@ry200388 No, it does not mean that. Ross doesn’t look at your preferred admission application until after you have been generally admitted.
I have not heard anything yet and I did not submit a letter of continued interest. Is this bad?
@ry200388 Was admitted EA and then received an email on 1/7/17 from Ross stating: “Congratulations on your admission to the University of Michigan! This is a great achievement, and you should be very proud. We began reviewing your application for Preferred Admission to the Ross School of Business soon after you were admitted to the university. This is a separate holistic review of your application file. We will consider the same file that was used for your freshman admission decision, along with your Ross BBA Preferred Admission Portfolio.”
Thanks @Gearloose for the information, I was deferred and then admitted, the admission office asked for supplement material at EA assessment but I submitted after the EA decision. Now after reviewing the tread, I worry I it is too late for me to get reviewed by Ross now. Did you accepted by Ross yet?
