@Eeeee127 That’s like third hand information
I got an email from my local Umich admissions counselor to email him my 2nd semester schedule ASAP (like within the next few hours) for them to proceed with my application…Is that bad? Does that mean I’m going to get deferred?I didn’t put my 2nd sem schedule with my EA application because I take classes at my local university and so I didn’t get to schedule for 2nd semester until like Nov 16th. I’m so scared right now.
@Sonali11 I think that is a good sign!
i know online it says decisions will be out by December 24th, but does anyone know the exact date? or when they were released last year?
@Sonali11 I think if they knew they were going to defer you they would’ve asked you for your second semester schedule later, while they are reviewing all of the regular decision candidates. I think they asked you now because you have a chance of being admitted now, but you are on the border. I agree with binky17, I think it’s a good sign!
@sarbull17 There is no guarantee but there is a chance it could be this friday. If not it will probably be the next friday, because they almost always release decisions of fridays.
Last year dec 18.
I know there are other factors but is a 29 on the ACT too low for LSA IN STATE.
@Zsmerica no you still have a chance of getting in if the rest of your application is strong. i think they accepted out of state students early action with 27 ACT last year.
Thanks!!! I’m just nervous, as everyone else is. Not to be cocky but I think that is the weakest point of my app, other than being 2 grammar mistakes on my essay (of which I am also losing sleep over).
@Zsmerica you are totally fine i promise your mistakes will not be the reason you are deferred. i made a few mistakes on my app and freaked out a ton but now i barely remember them or care much. they really do try to look at you as a whole.
@uofm83 what was sent to the legacies? I am a legacy and i received nothing.
Thanks again!!! It’s nice to know that there are people out there that have dealt with the same problems. You survived so I’ll survive. Hopefully, I’ll survive wearing maize and blue!!!
@bells2017 legacies’ parents (or whoever attended UMich) received the following email:
Dear ________,
Greetings from the University of Michigan!
As a proud alumnus of the University of Michigan, you know firsthand the value of a U-M education. Every year, we are fortunate to review tens of thousands of applications from prospective students, across the country and internationally, who are hoping to attend this university and engage with all that it has to offer.
We have the pleasure this year of receiving your relatives application. I imagine that the decision to apply came after hearing about your positive experiences here at U-M, and I thank you for your continued support of our mission to serve the common good through preeminence in creating, communicating, preserving and applying knowledge, art, and academic values, and in developing leaders and citizens who will challenge the present and enrich the future.
While our team is still busy giving each application a thoughtful, holistic review, I want to share with you some additional information for alumni families. This list of Frequently Asked Questions (Link) addresses our continually increasing competitiveness, our review process, and other issues related to enrollment that you may find helpful.
Thank you again, and Go Blue!

Does early application have a better chance of getting in, even if they get deferred?
Not really
@bells2017 Did your parents get the email? Did you provide their email address. I am now thinking all legacies ( who provided email addresses of their parents) got it, but I could be wrong. Anyone?
What EA deferred students have going for them of RD applicants is the letter of continued interest. If you’re deferred you can talk about how Michigan is your #1 choice and make a further case for yourself. That’s what I did last year and it turned out pretty well.
ahHH! was hoping it was lower lol but thanks for letting me know @Eeeee127
yes, all relatives of legacies got them. My dad went there and he received one yesterday. Don’t know if the legacy thing actually helps our applications though…I hope so.
Anybody else’s wolverine access not working for them? it will not let me log in, its been happening since this morning.
