UMKC 6 year BA/MD - class of 2011

volunteer at hospital, shadowed a doctor, no research

joeytom76, did u have an interview?

typical things, track, cross country, band

leadership: I've been president of Model UN for 2 years

Work: Nurse's assistant at a doctor's office, shadow, volunteer

no i didn't get an interview...i guess i'm gonna get rejected...

So, I emailed Mrs. Morgenegg, and she confirmed that we would find out by phone/email. She told me that I passed the Toledo exam as well, so that gives me some relief. I know that I won't be starting school in the summer, bearing in mind that I'm accepted. Ah waiting sucks!

does anyone else have the guts to call during school about their decision..i think i'm going to call during first hour on monday!!!...

im off next week so im definitely calling.

this wait is truly torturous! As soon as we find out, we should start posting a list.

Hey good luck on admissions guys! for all the ones who do get accepted and plan on joining in the fall, send me a pm and i can give you the lowdown on everything as i'm a year 1 at umkc. good luck once again.

PS: i just noticed, this thread title should be Class of 2013, as it's a 6 year program you don't graduate in 4 years.

I applied to UMKC's 6 year medical program as an OOS (NY), and took my interview in mid March. My stats are as follows...
GPA:3.7
SATs:2100 SAT IIs: Math IIC:800, Chemistry:770
ACT:34 (Hope this helps ALOT, especially GPA and the OOS)
EC's: I have only a few
volunteering at a hospital
key club
math team
Service
Peer Tutoring
Job:Private Tutoring

I dont know if this happened to everyone, but I thought my interviews went really well. What was weird was that my last interviewer, Dr.Jones, told me to call my father in, and asked him how he was going to pay for the OOS if i was accepted? He also made chit-chat with my father about the Bush administration, my native country...I hope that means that they are considering me highly to ask me how my family can pay the tuition...

And I know OOS tuition is crazy (60 K's a year)...med school costs like $200,000 for four years if you go to a really top one, on top of personal expenses and such. So although many accepted OOS who enroll will be in $300000 of debt, paying it off would take the same time as a traditional 8 year program, because we have a two year head start...

Ohh I forgot to ask, I know this is stupid, asking the day the decisions are made, but what do you think my OOS chances are?

hey by the way let's start with names. My name is Zain and i am oos too. Your name? I think you should have a good chance given that you have really high SAT ACT score. And yeah i had my interview with Dr. Jones too.

Hi Zain, my names my username...did Dr.Jones talk to you parents also?

I want to know NOW! did anyone hear yet?

have to wait till monday...

no he did not talk to my parents.

do you think the e-mail/call could come tomorrow?

I don't think they'll be in the office on a sunday.. so I'm not expecting a call tomorrow.. unless it's automated.... that would def. be a nice surprise for us ..!! ..well if we get in... fingers crossed

do u guyz know if we are suppose to call them on monday or they will call us?

Does anyone know the amount of OOS applicants that are interviewed and accepted on average each year?I cant believe I cant wait ONE DAY...

I dont think it will matter. I think we can call Mrs. Morgenegg and find out. Its not like she can change decisions on the 2nd.
