I honestly have no idea.

I hate Chicago (i live here) so i'm mostly looking at Pitt vs. UMKC.

Pitt is good and all but then so is UMKC...ugh. Help please?

if pitt full ride + med guarantee, then i vote for pitt. otherwise i will pick other bs/md pgm.

it’s just full ride, no med guarantee.

i just want to be the best doctor i can and hopefully get into harvard or washu for residency i suppose.

any specific reasoning to UMKC > pitt?

i really don’t have answer for u.

pitt is a fine school, but the rank is not that great, imagine how many pitt undergraduate made through med school each year, i think it is less than ivy league school or even far less. So the chance to get into harvard med is slim, but not impossible.

Let me tell you, there are bunch of GPA 3.9 students (Undergradute), who can’t make to med school each year from very good university (i say top 30). So you have to do your own calculation.

How good/competitive you are …, advantage/disadvantage, are you so sure you can make it to even top 30 med school after 4 years…, there is no guarantee. If you are in pitt, i assume you may be in honors college, they have good students there too, so another competition to get straight A. (needs 3.8+, and good MCAT to enter med school nowadays)

Well, if your oos for UMKC, you will inflict some serious financial burdens upon yourself. I’m sure you learned of the tuition rates at the interview…

I’m literally in like the same exact boat as you, except for UMKC.

So it’s a full ride to Pitt vs GPPA. I’m confused out of my minddd.

Personally, I’m not the biggest fan of UMKC because of what I’ve heard. Knowing people that are in the program, they work really hard all the time, but any learning is strictly in preparation for medical school. It isn’t the typical college experience–socially and academically. I’d want to take electives and not be so stressed all the time, so that program never really appealed to me.

But yeah, going back to the Pitt vs GPPA…I change my mind like every single day. On one hand, I’d be close to home with GPPA (which is a plus and a minus…the minus being my family still breathing down my neck all the time). But, then there’s the fact that Pitt is a much more recognized undergrad program.

The doctors in my family all say GPPA. My teachers all say Pitt, as do most of my classmates.

I’m sooo confused!

UMKC 6-yr vs. Pitt(fullride) vs. UIC-GPPA
Take the Pitt(fullride). UMKC is not worth it.

I have no first hand experience with UMKC, but I have read a lot of bad stuff about UMKC in this forum. Just search UMKC and read the stuff. UMKC is very, very expensive for OS.
