No offense here, but its the truth---not only you of course!!!!!!!!! :-)

<3 NIk

wow....well nicky....my gpa is low as hell and that's what i know could pwn me. I think u have good chances with that nice gpa of yours...........i would compromise test points for a better gpa anyday. I think i have the same chances as you(seriously)...

Well thanks that is nice of you to say I DID NOT MEAN WHAT I SAID IN AN OFFENSIVE WAY-----NO HOSTILITY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But anyways my college consultant said that they are more likely to admit someone w/great test scores and a low GPA b/c they are looking for truly "brilliant" students, not hard workers...and they tend to think that if your GPA is lower&test scores are higher, the HS environment was just STIFLING TO YOU.

COMPLETE ******** IF YOU ASK ME, BUT THEN AGAIN SO IS 99% OF THIS WHOLE PROCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<3 Nik :)

Wow... four years can be less important than a mere four hours.

I know right...THE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS PROCESS IS SO ****ED UP. I was thinking about writing my essay about that...but I doubt that would be too well-received! LOL

i think SATs count more than GPA's in some cases because they do determine your intelligence in a way and your ability to do work and because colleges rank high schools so if you go to a difficult high school you are automatically expected to have a much lower GPA than a kid who goes to a crappy school. I think that's fair though because i went to an inner-city school where i pulled off an easy A+ average then i moved to another district where the schools are ranked the top in the state and i struggled to keep an B+/A- average. In terms of cornell, NY residents do get preference for CALS, ILR, and HUman ecology b/c they are state-funded schools and by law i think they are required to have a large NY representation so out of state kids have it rough there. however, for CAS, Hotel, and the others your residence doesnt matter actually being from NY might hurt you in those schools because so many kids from NY apply to Cornell and they aren't "required" to accept NY kids

You have a good chance.

However, this is no way to know. No one knows what the admissions committee looks for or decides. Just apply, and see what happens-you'll never know if you don't!

Not to reopen an old wound, but what is a 3.5 unweighted GPA? A 95 overall average?
