I've read some of the profiles of those of you who applied for top prep schools, but couldn't help noticing how impressive those were.
Kinda frightened^^;;

Here are my specs:
I'm going to apply for 10th grade for the top schools like Exeter, Andover, St. Paul, Milton and so on.
I'm certain I'll get over at least 90% percentile for SSAT.
I'm a Korean, but currently I'm a green card holder and will get naturalized within 6 months.
I play golf, tennis, and ultimate, but never actually played for a school or anything.
I have 1 year of theater.
I'm a photographer, but again, for my own recreational pleasures. I don't have any photographic awards or anything.

I've been moving and transferring around a lot.
I've attended 12 schools, and have been living in Korea, Illinois, Canada, and right now I'm in Hawaii.
I have 3.9 gpa, was elected for Student Council last year, but unfortunately, transferred before I could act as the freshmen representative for this year.

I really don't have anything that "stands out." Well maybe my diverse school records, but I don't think this will be counted as an advantage.

Can anybody tell me where I stand among the applications?

Thanks in advance...

you seem like a good candidate, and if your essays are tops, you should have an in!

But i still encourage you to have a non TSAO safety school instead. Now don't get me wrong, and automatically think that a safety has to mean lower SSAT scores, or a "second tier" school- I hate the tiring system anyway. This gust means a school with an acceptance rate over 30- or 35%

I'm sorry, but what's a TSAO school?

Could you elaborate please?

ten schools association or something like that. just chill. grades are important, but essays and the interview is very imporant. for the ssat, most people who get accepted are over 90 percentile. besides, the fact that you live in hawaii helps. there's actually a really good prep school there but i'm not sure what it's called. Just do some more ec this year and accentuate your talents, and downplay your weaknesses. :) good luck

Milton isnt even a TSAO school. Forget that category, I think what dazzlezz means is that there are some schools where you can never guarantee an in and then in some schools, your chances will skyrocket simply because they accommodate a higher percentage of applicants. Look at schools like Loomis and NMH, just as excellent as many TSAO schools with higher acceptance rates . Also, dont apply to too many, it makes it seem like you aren't really interested in any of the schools in particular.

Loomis = TSAO school (had to point that out)

Anyways, xox and dazzlezzz are right. Make sure you apply to a school with higher acceptance rates along with all the top schools that you are applying to. Groton, Loomis, NMH, Cate, etc...they're all excellent schools and they have higher acceptance rates than the likes of Exeter and Andover

Groton's acceptance rate is less than 20%.

Thanks everyone for the advice^^
Btw, would they know which schools I apply too?

Not unless you tell them.

....and they generally ask.

So the bottom line is...?

i'm korean too and i applied last year to hotchkiss and andover. got waitlisted on the financial aid waitlist for both and i need the money so I'm reapplying. i guess they wouldn't really expect you to have any solidified activities since you've moved around so much. if you think you'll do well on the SSAT's and you do well on them, your interviews go well, and you write good essays, you should have a good shot at getting into one of those schools but I would apply to school with a higher acceptance rate also.
