Ummm Really Need To Know If Anyone Has Got This Letter From ACT??

or heard of anyone that has gotten it... it is a letter saying that i need to send ACT a letter and my transcript saying how i did better on my 2nd ACT score.

first time i got a 20.
second time i got a 25.

the note says that they compared my answers with that of someone in my room and we had similar answers... ok... i didnt cheat however. My math and writing stayed the same and i went from a 15 in science to a 26 in science only bc i studied extremely hard for science. The first time i took the ACT i was way out like 2 hours away from home and i was extremely nervous and on the science i literally filled in random bubbles and managed to get 15.. this time i studied and got a 26... so. Ok so anywassy i am of course going to explain this to them and they will see from my transcript i have a 3.52 uw and i am a good student....

has anyone heard of this.. and they say my scores were still sent to colleges and they do not notify the colleges about this just that i have to send them a letter.... will everything be cleared up, it better be... i dont want to be punished for imporoving by studying.. anyone know anything about this??

thanks a lot!

I think that if you do what they say, nothing bad will happen.

yea, just do what you said. They won't screw you over because they have no proof of anything.

you should be fine. great job on the score increase

thanks guys. I am just writing the letter like i am suppose to and hopefully everything will be fine... they cannot punish me for doing better and studying urg. ya know.

ya it'll be fine, they obviously can't get you in trouble for them having an instinct that you are cheating. thats weird cuz i went up 4 points and never got a notice or anything. its amazing what studying a certain topic will do for your scores! congrats on the 25 that will open up so many more college and scholarship opportunities for you.

it says on the notice that "we compared your answer sheet with others from the center where you tested and found an unusual similarity between your responses and those of the examinee with the same test form who was seated near you."

K first off i did not cheat, lets just all know that please. I am writing the letter to them stating exactly why i did better (studying, less nervous etc. all honest reasons and they will be seeing my transcript which shows i am a smart kid). WHat the heck happens if they dont believe me.. i am started to become scared.. can someone please comfort me..urg!!!

Gandhi always said that the truth is better than a lie.
He once made a small white lie to this important woman when he was younger, and went back and told her the truth even though in doing so he was in danger of losing his relationship with her and his reputation.

She didn't hate him, and liked him even more for being truthful.

In telling the truth you can never go wrong.

Well, your answers were similar because they were the right answers, I guess. They probably have a program that looks for (a) signficant increases in scores and (b) similarity in answer patterns. Send them a letter, and you'll probably hear nothing else about it.

Last year, the son of one of my law partners got this letter....or maybe it was the next level because it said he either had to explain the dramatic increase to their satisfaction or they would cancel the score. The family had hired a private tutor, thus the dramatic increase. The dad finally calmed down. The boy sent a letter and the tutor sent a letter and the ACT gods were appeased.

I assume that they give multiple/scrambled versions of the ACT, so that you don't know if the student to the left or right of you is answering the questions in the same order as you are. How the heck would a person cheat?

thanks for all the responses guys and i am beginning to calm down and am hoping everything will be fine as long as i am honest and tell them how i improved...

i am sending in a letter of course
i am sending in the real book cover of the book i used to study with.
my transcript which shows i am FULLY capable of a 25 on the ACT.
as well as two teacher documents that express my high level of integrity in the class room as well as my values, etc.

thanks a lot!

A little too extreme, but I guess that will do...

Maybe someone else copied your answers without your knowledge?

Hope you get that cleared up! Good luck...

well they tell me to include a transcript when i send my letter in...

but you think that the teacher letters are too extreme.. they will just be paragraphs attributing to my classroom skills and integrity in their class.

bump to being a little to extreme.. i dunno i thought it was a good idea for them to see my behavior in school and what teachers see me do everyday....

bump

i am not doin the teacher thing bc i read closely and it says they dont want that. SO i am just writing my letter and sending my transcript. This whole process freaks me out... like urg, why! Its not my fault someone in the room's answers were similar to mine and just bc i went up 5 points i am being looked at.. poop. i really hope this all ends..

any comforting thoughts, stories of this, etc... anyone know anything i dont?

Just on the phone with my friend whose son got the letter. About two months after they sent in the info, they got a letter saying all is well.

dude you're fine. don't sweat it.
