ummm

ok can i just say that all of you are psychotic b/c you post stats that are perfect (which are probably fake) and ask if you are getting in…do you honestly thing teenagers will be able to tell you if you’re going to get in?? NO…just wait for your rejection letters next week, k??

goodness, someone is bitter

I think that he, aaaaa12, has a point though.

he does have a point, but the last thought he added was entirely unnecessary.

Someone's jealous! :O

i must say, it is rather depressing seeing people post with Stats of a billion pointless activities, national scholar awards, 1600 SAT and triple 800s, and then weep about whether or not they'll gain admission.

personally, i have 1280 SAT I, and have applied EA. Will I get in? Most probably not. But I hope I at least have a shot.

agreed

Well, they have some reason to weep, because there are plenty of those 1600/triple 800/ zillion EC applicants who do in fact fail to get into Harvard. They know this and are worried about it. They get to worry about their chances just like everyone else.

but i suppose they can afford to worry less than some of us lesser beings...but again they shouldn't think they're god's gift to the earth...cuz well...they're probably not...

I think that they have a right to be worried, BUT they shouldn't be writing obnoxious titles like "Should I even bother applying?"

True, that's a little over the top. False modesty is never endearing.

Here's my problem with all this "can I get in" hysteria: I feel that people forget WHY they want to go to a great school like Harvard. I would hope that people who apply (at leasat most of us) are doing so because we genuinely love to learn, and we want to pursue our education in a way that would open our minds. I think that so many people have become obsessed with stats and catalogs of activities. The question that Harvard SHOULD be asking when they are considering applicants is: Will this person contribute to this community in a meaningful way? I don't think that perfect scores translate into passion, nor intellectual ability and curiosity.

Anyways, I've decided that I want to go to a school where I am valued. So if Harvard rejects me, that is statement abot their insitiuinal values, or lack therof. If we presented ourselves truthfully and sincerely, and they don't like what they see, I think it's Harvard's loss. Just my humble opinions...
