I want to major in engineering. I heard that taking Calculus in college without taking Calculus AB in high school can be really hard. I'm worry because I can only take Trig/PreCalc during my senior year. I'm taking College Algebra right now (junior). I'm worry that I will crash in college and destroy my dream just because I didn't take Calculus in high school!!!!

If you do have true skill at mathematics, teach it to yourself and take the AP Test. I never took the AP Calculus courses as a high school student. I took the AP Calculus BC exam as a freshman, got a 5, and then moved onto further math courses at a magnet school. If you get the 5, you are pretty much guaranteed college credit.

Take Trig/Precalc classes over the summer at your local community college. Then, take Calc AB senior year.

I second TBP’s suggestion.

You would just start in first semester freshman calculus instead of second semester freshman calculus that you would if you had a 5 in AP Calculus AB. No big deal.

A few schools (MIT, Caltech, Harvey Mudd, as well as engineering at WUStL) do expect entering freshmen to have had some calculus. But the great majority do not, including for engineering majors.
