Unacceptable English Score

My scores for the June ACT are:

C - 31
E - 27
M - 33
R - 33
S - 32

I don't know why my english score is so low. When taking the test, I thought it was by far the easiest section. Reading is generally my worst so I don't know. This was my first time taking it. What can I do about this?

umm take practice sections? that would be the most obvious thing to do.

What I meant was, can I get it rescored? How frequently are mistakes like this made made?

lol I felt the same way you did when I first took it without studying back in Feb. I left feeling GREAT about my scores. I thought I nailed Math and English while feeling pretty good about Reading and Science.

I got a 31 C, 28 E, 30 M, 36 R, and 31 S. =/

you can get it rescored… however, you have to pay a fee, if what you got on english is graded wrong- the fee is waivered, BUT if what u got on english is graded right , you gotta pay the fee… here’s a quote from the site

Hand-scoring service
If you believe that a scoring error has been made, you may ask us to hand-score your multiple-choice answer document for a fee of $30.00. (You may request to be present for a hand-scoring of your multiple-choice answer document at one of our regional offices, but you must pay an additional fee.) If you believe your Writing Test has been scored incorrectly, you may request that your essay be rescored for an additional fee of $30. Requests for hand-scoring must be made within three months of receiving your score report.

When requesting either or both of these services, you must provide in writing your name as given at the time of testing, Social Security or ACT ID number, date of birth, test date (month and year), and test center, and you must enclose a check payable to ACT Records for $30.00 (or $60.00 if you want both the multiple-choice tests and the Writing Test hand-scored). We will mail a letter to you with the results of the hand-scoring about 3–5 weeks after we receive your request.

If a scoring error is discovered, corrected reports will be sent to all previous score recipients without charge, and the hand-scoring fee will be refunded.

I’ve already ordered the answer service. I’m going to check to see if I can remember if the answers matched what I chose. Hopefully, it won’t be too late to get it rescored if I do find errors.

I felt the same way. I got a 30, but I was expecting at least a 32. I noticed when I was scoring a practice test that I tend to make stupid mistakes because I move too quickly. It’s an easy section to make obvious mistakes in.

If you already ordered the answer service, I think you can order a photocopy of your answer sheet for a little bit more and score it yourself.

I believe you will receive the test questions, the correct answers AND your answers. VERY HELPFUL for anyone planning to re-take…
