Two friends of mine who got in last year and 2004:

Person A:
3.28 GPA
Physiological Science
No extra-curricular or work during her years at the CC.
Although she did talk about her high school activities in her personal statement.
No Honors.

Person B:
3.2 ish GPA
Political Science Major.
No honors.

This is no joke. :/ They got in with the bare minimum GPA!

Yep, well Person A completed all her IGETC's within two years. yes, two years!! As a bio major too. Sheesh. It'll take me three years if I was her.

Really? So if you load up with lots of IGETC and prereqs but do B work you'll have a better chance of getting in versus Taking smaller courseloads but getting A's?

highschoolda... engineering is very high unit major too.. may be 80+ units! I manage to get the IGETC (not needed for engineering) but for math major while taking some preg for engineering for some schools hahaahahah
Yeah, and some of my friends who are in bio-chem are following a simlilar trend too 80+ units (most hard core science courses)...
It is kind of unfair for science/engineering major since getting A in organic chemistry is much harder than getting A in a GE course; thus maintaining a high GPA while taking hardcore science is like holding a 200 pounds rock on the back of your shoulder and most of us need 3 years to finish 80+ while other majors only need 2 years to finish IGECT with 60+ ... kind of unfair :D

yeah engineering people have it bad too. most bio majors don't get physics done and uc adcoms are understanding of it.

kind of unfair since a history major has to only have 4 history classes done which is around 12 units and i think a stats classes or something...

There were a few people on here who had some incredably high stats get turned down for UCLA and Cal. I don't remember the specifics, but they came as a surprise.
