alright thanks wahoo...any other southern schools that i would have a better chance at? im guessing your a student at UVA haha

You could look into Wake Forest, University of South Carolina, Washington & Lee, and University of Richmond

bump...anyone have any school suggestions for me?

Wake Forest, Tulane, U Florida... As people said before, UVA and W & M will be pretty big reaches out of state. I know its not southern, but what about U Mich? Half my list is southern schools also, but you can't ignore the fact that it is the #3 B school in the country.

oh yea i have my stats up on a post just search for my name dont feel like tpyin em out

Very good list, you have a great shot at all those schools

Boston College-in
Bucknell-in
Lafayette-in
Vanderbilt-70% chance
Bowdoin -60% chance
University of Virginia-40% chance
William and Mary-50% chance
University of Delaware-in

I think your class rank makes Bowdoin a little reachy, too. Have you looked at Macalester?

hmm i havent heard of macalaster...but both of my parents attended bowdoin so they are the ones who are convinced i have good chances haha...its not on the top of my list...ill look into it though thanks

I also agree that your chances at UVA and W & M are not all that great. The competition for out of state students is fierce. Your course schedule looks good, SAT ok but the GPA will be a killer. UVA especially seems to put emphasis there. My daughter is applying out of state but with in state admission status to UVA. She has a 30 ACT, 1350 SAT, 3 SAT' 11's over 700, GPA unweighted 95.6, top 5 % of class. We will be crossing our fingers tightly for W & M but even UVA is not a given.

bump .

hey everyone! hope everyone did well on the sats now take at look at this!

BC: Reach
Bucknell: Reach-Match
Lafayette: Match
Vanderbilt: Far-reach
Bowdoin: Far-reach
UVa: Far-reach
W&M: Far-reach
UDel: Safety

Your top 25% class ranking is going to hurt badly at most of these schools. 1340 SATs, decent SAT IIs, but you're lacking that top 10% that schools like Bowdoin, Vanderbilt, and UVA/W&M (out-of-state especially) look for. They aren't impossible but I'd list them as unlikely. Your strong ECs might give you a bit of a boost but I'd focus on Lafayette, UDel, and maybe Bucknell.

the top 25% is deceiving...our GPAs are out of a scale of 100 and no one's is weighted and there is no class ranking system so really it's better than it looks...im not saying it will definitely get me in anywhere but it's a different system

I'd still say you'd look much better at those schools with higher SAT Is. A 1340 is below the average at Bowdoin, Uva, W&M, and Vanderbilt (and just above BC). Not to say SATs mean everything but when you fall below their average you're going to need to make up for it with killer SAT IIs and grades (or some sort of hook).

do you think the fact that i take 2 langages will help?

It won't hurt, especially if you can demonstrate fluency (or close to it) on the SAT IIs.

okkkk! comments please?

I am a student at Delaware, and I am pretty familiar with the admissions standards. I would say that you have a very good chance of being admitted based on your stats.

admitted to Delaware? or the schools on my list?
