This is primarily for current students but anyone can feel free to answer.

At this point most of us are trying to decide where we want to attend college and I know this is the Tufts board so it is hard to ask for an unbiased response but I was just wondering from peoples experiences what they think the pros and cons of Tufts are?

Thanks!

Pros:
-caring, attentive faculty
-great location: close to Boston but not in the middle of the city
-great study abroad programs and research opportunities
-pretty campus
-good dining hall food
-lots of on-campus entertainment
-good library
-wide bredth and depth of courses

Cons:
-low name recognition outside the northeast
-the name
-some of the dorms (Lewis, Haskell, Wren) and facilities are run down and not in great shape

Could be either:
-snow and cold
-International students: they bring a different perspective, unfortuantely they can also be among the most spoiled, snooty, entitled people you'll ever meet in your life. NOT ALL: just some.
-The Social Life: I like it, but others find it boring or lacking

pros:
academic rigor
small class sizes
proximity to T (subway)

cons:
academic advising

Pros
Professors will bend over backwards for you and are extremely nice and accomodating
Small classes
Interesting classes
Non competitive atmosphere
Research opportunities abound
Great food both in and out of Tufts, though you'll likely tire of Dewick after 5 months
Study abroad programs were amazing (Talloires for the summer program and even non French speakers)
Boston

Cons
Proximity to the T (sorry, I got tired of walking 10 minutes to get back home instead of waiting for the Joey, worrywart :) )
Weather
Administrative red tape
International students - I second that they can be... eclectic. However, as nasty as some of their sides can be, they are interesting people to talk to.
Our chip on our shoulder that we're just as good as ivy league graduates (which I still think we are)
