UNC 2017 Transfer Student Thread

@martintrevor

Don’t mind at all. I came into Elon wanting to stay for four years. It was my second school choice behind UNC (I was deferred and then declined last year). I really loved (and still do) the small classes, the campus, and the professors. However, when it comes down to finances, Elon is too expensive for my family at this point. Also, I have found that the academics are not quite up to where I would like them. I really want to challenge myself academically and UNC def will do that for me. Also, the lack of diversity and ranges within socio-economic statuses are very apparent. I’ve had a hard time relating to most students because of that. Lastly, UNC is my dream and I just couldn’t get it off my mind this past year.

i just got in finally and still no decision available

@elontounc123 those are all very valid reasons. i only asked because i know a few people going in as freshman. one of my reasons for leaving my current university (UofSC) is because of money, i cant ask my parents to pay for the OOS tuition anymore

Anyone else think there are less applicants this year because decisions have never come out this early?

Will they send us decision email when they post their decisions online?

@martintrevor, I totally understand! & @ScQuan, I do not think so. I think this is their last notification. I think we will find out around 4 tomorrow.

Last year, when they sent out this email, they released decisions the next day at 4:09pm

@johnpfc3: thanks for your information. I did not think that they release their decisions early.

If anyone is interested, 2014 transfer didn’t get their decisions until 4/15 and 2016 didn’t theirs until 4/14 which is a whole week later

I also may be wrong, but I’d think that there weren’t as many applicants this year. Not trying to get hopes up but that would be the only logical explanation for why they’re being released so early.

Yeah @BryantB02 that would follow. I have noticed that some schools have extended their deadlines so maybe UNC didn’t get as many applicants this year. Which is good for us?

Yes tomorrow around 4 is the standard when email comes out

It could also be because Easter is late this year. The past few years it’s been in March.

@isuncforme493 : your explanation is the most possible one, I think

Just wanting to send out positive vibes to everyone who has applied! I hope we all get the decisions we’ve been waiting for.

so the consensus is that we think decisions will be out tomorrow around 4pm?

@isuncforme493 you may be right about that but it’s strange that the decisions are coming out a whole week in advance. It shocks me because in 2014 & 2016, there were people who didn’t get their decisions until April 23rd.

Hey all, super late to the thread.
I applied to transfer from UC Berkeley as an incoming sophomore. My GPA here so far is a 3.427.
High school GPA: 4.1 W, 3.6 or so UW
SAT superscore: 2280
EC’s: Founder and President of 501©(3) and club to benefit eye clinics in India (long story), volunteer and intern for my local Congresswoman, Vice President of high school Young Republicans, Berkeley Student government internship, very involved with Berkeley college republicans (yes we exist)

I’m originally from Indiana, and last year I got wait listed and then rejected.

I’ve wanted to attend UNC for years, just because I’m an intended business major, and I LOVE absolutely everything about the school.

Just got that same email as y’all, and every year so far I’ve seen that the decisions come out the next day (occasionally 2 or 3 days later). Email FREAKED ME OUT. Good luck to everyone!

@MitchHorn We are scarily similar lol. I applied in high school and was waitlisted and rejected. I also have similar stats to you and am coming from Emory which is only slightly less prestigious as UC Berkley. I’m also an intended business major and am a Republican lmao. UNC was also my top school all along. Hope you get in!

Wait I totally read your thread before I posted and thought the same thing. We are very similar, where are you from originally?
I truly hope we both get in, Good luck!
