UNC 2018 Transfer Student Thread

Are we required to send our high school transcripts if we’re applying 2 years removed from high school?

Yes. All transfer applicants have to send in a high school transcript. @aflacduck13

How long does it take to get your Carolina Connect login thing? submitted my application Thursday

Help/Thoughts sent in college transcripts over a month ago and got an email saying my app was incomplete yesterday. Found receipts w proof that I purchased and sent the transcripts, but I just went ahead and bought and sent more.
Calling the admissions office Monday AM to talk to them about it, any other suggestions?? Don’t want this to interfere with me going to my dream school :frowning:

It took 48 hours for me. You won’t get a login per se, but you get an email saying your app has been submitted and it will give you instructions to make a UNC guest ID which is used for Connect Carolina. @abk2021
They don’t check off admission items until after your Connect Carolina account is created. Since they receive and check through many items, it can sometimes take a week or so to check your items off the list after you do them. I was worried at first when I applied a few months back, but about 2 weeks after my portal was created, most of the items that I had completed were taken off the to do list. You can call on Monday if the office is open (President’s day) to see if they ever received the transcripts. You don’t necessarily need to have all your admission items complete by the deadline, you just need to have them in within a reasonable amount of time after. @nduclaunc

@HSstudentNC you are so helpful!! Thank you. I really appreciate it.

No problem. I’m glad you found it helpful.

I submitted on Thursday, received an email from CommonApp that I successfully submitted my application. Still have not received an email with instructions to set up a Connect Carolina account. Should I be worried/call the admissions office?

In the same boat, but guessing with the deadline and the weekend we will hear soon.

You don’t need to worry. As long as you get the common app email you’re good to go. It is confirmed as submitted as soon as you get that email. It can take around 2-4 days to get the email from UNC with details about setting up Connect Carolina.

is is helpful to submit ap scores along with act/sat? applying as a sophomore

I would submit everything you have that will help your application

I would say it’s not of much help for improving chances of admission. They will likely use the scores after admission to determine if your AP credit will transfer based on their policy.

What’s yall stats

NC resident, applying as Sophomore Exercise Science major
Currently at an NC community college
High school GPA: 4.34(W) 3.6 (UW)
College GPA:4.0 (40 credits completed, 14 in progress)
SAT: 1210
Extracurriculars: Chemistry tutor for a few months, job, Honor Society, Beta club (high school), hospital/rehab center volunteer hours, Ultimate Frisbee team captain 2 years.
Had a great rec letter from a chemistry professor I had 2 semesters in a row.
Essay was pretty good I think. Nothing outstanding but good.

I will tell you from experience UNC uses the holistic approach. My son is currently a junior at UNC. My daughter applied to transfer in as a sophomore transfer… Both great students in their own way. Really no one is able to chance as colleges have different approaches to applications. Just because someone has better grades or test scores mean nothing! Everyone keep a positive attitude and await your good news

UNC does use really holistic review, but the most factor will be the numbers such as your HS and College GPA and test scores. In the past couple years’ thread, almost every student with GPA 3.7 got admitted. They give strong consideration on the GPA, I think the essay and activities are just fillers.

My GPA is 3.55 with 46 credits, and I am already ready for the rejection from UNC :frowning:
Will visiting Binghamton University next month and most likely its where I am going to end up transferring to.

GPA 3.93 with 44 credit hours, 14 in progress hopefully accepted this year, wait-listed and rejected last year.

@GoldenAndBlack What were your stats last year and major?
