UNC 2018 Transfer Student Thread

Where did you see that @AwkwardNewYorker

Same here. @AwkwardNewYorker , although my need based calculation summary seems off, but that could be due to it not being finalized.
If you’ve already made an onyen, go here https://admissions.unc.edu/set-unc-email/ to set up your UNC email. @alliezannino

It’s in Connect Carolina, financial section, view financial aid, select 2019 as the year, and it should say “Financial Aid in progress”. @annamanna

@annamanna under the financial aid tab on connect Carolina

@Daisy423 Did you join the FB group? If we both end up at UNC you can hang with my dog anytime

@AwkwardNewYorker Yep, mine is pending now, too! Does anyone know where the Financial Aid to do list is? I want to make sure they aren’t requesting more info, but I can’t find the Financial Aid to do list referenced in the pending message.

A financial aid to do list won’t appear unless they need any other fin aid documents from you @butfirstcoffee If you go to your regular to do list on the right side of Connect Carolina, it will list everything you will need.

Awesome. Mine says nothing to do. Anyone else hoping to get Carolina Covenant?

I am. I am worried though because my family’s 2016 tax returns would not qualify me, however 2017 would definitely qualify me. I did the CSS profile and entered in 2017 and 2018 income information, but I am not sure if that would qualify me for it or if it has to be 2016 income.

@butfirstcoffee yes! I’m hoping to keep loans to a minimum and as an out of state Student it would be the dream.

@HSstudentNC Yeah, my EFC is a little inflated from 2016 as well, but still doable.

@AwkwardNewYorker I’m oos as well!

@HSstudentNC mine is the opposite my FAFSA the year before qualifies me but now even though my financial situation hasn’t changed, my parents still can’t give me money for school, I don’t qualify. My EFC also doubled and my pell grant was cut in half

Yeah, I may end up calling them or sending in the Need analysis review form explaining the situation. You may be able to do so as well if you think it would help. @AwkwardNewYorker

Do they give the Carolina Covenant to anyone who qualifies? Or only select applicants? I qualify but I make a lot less now than I did when I filled out FAFSA. Is there any way to update?

@butfirstcoffee and yes, I did!! I would love to play with them!

I do think it is given to those who qualify. Not 100% sure on that though. I’m in a similar situation, 2017 and this year will qualify me, however the 2016 tax returns used in this year’s FAFSA won’t qualify me. If you want to update your financial situation, use the “Need analysis review” from under the “Aid Processing forms” header on this site: https://studentaid.unc.edu/forms/academic-year-2018-19/ @Daisy423

@HSstudentNC thank you so much! I hope they take into consideration your new financial situation when awarding aid (:

hey does anyone know how to register for classes / make an advising appointment?

You will be able to register for classes from Connect Carolina on Thursday morning. You can make an advising appointment from here: https://advsched.oasis.unc.edu/advsched/app if you have already made your onyen. @idkkkk123

@HSstudentNC Did you already pay your deposit? I haven’t accepted/paid my deposit so it won’t let me make an advising appointment.

Is anybody here gonna go to the Transfer Welcome Reception?

I accepted their offer of admission, but deferred the payment of my deposit until financial aid comes in. @butfirstcoffee
